The 4th grade girls are going to read Esperanza Rising. They will make predictions before starting the book and at various points throughout the book. We can stop at the end of chapters and predict what is going to happen in the next one. This book is an example of the genre Historical Fiction. We will also be looking for genre characteristics as we read through this book.

I think that the book Esperanza Rising, there will be a girl named Esperanza who will find true love and hope. I say that because onthe cover of the book she's floating on the wind with roses in her hand.
What I think Esperanza Rising is about a girl named Esperanza and her family,all her servants,how she thinks her world is so perfect and then in her wonderful life takes a turn for the worst esperranza and her mum move to a farm in califorina and her mom gets sick and shes depending on esperanza and esperanza is depending on herself!to find out what happens youll have to read the book yourselfand ill be shore to keep you updated. I think that the book will be a good book but again kinda' sad, because I hear that in the book her
dad dies and mom dies.But overall I
like it.I think that in the next
chapter,she will find out how,and
who killed her dad. I also think
that she will find out that her mom will marry her tio. I hope not!
So far I think that Esperanza rising is awsome.It could just be my nuber four on my count down and its hard to get on my count down!I hated it when the dad died I dont get to see my dad very much so I know how she feels and I don't think that any one should feel that pain.It was super sad and I also hate Esperanza's uncle he asked his own sister to marry him right afer his own brother just died I hope that he dies a terrible death!!!!!
In Esperanza Rising a girl named Esperanza looses her dad and her uncles burn down her house just because Tio Luis want's her mom to marry him! So mom says yes but dosen't mean it. Then they move away in the middle of the night. When they get on the train a little girl comes over and says "mona!mona!" To Esperanza's doll. So mama makes her a yarn doll. Then her friend Miguel started talking about his job in California.
So far I think that Esperanza Rising So far is RIDICULOUSLY awesome.In the book Esperanza Rising chapter 1 well the prologue Esperanza is 6 and her and her dad Sixto Ortega are walking through their vineyard and then the papa said that the earth is breathing and he walked over to a grassy spot and lay down on his stomach and they listen to the earth breath and then in chapter 2,6 years later papa handed Esperanza a knife to cut the grape vine and there was a crowd about maybe 100 or 111.
Sorry computer messed up well back on task all their servants crowded and she cut the vine and papa picked it up and held it up and shouted fiesta.Sorrybut I got to GO LATer.
